Feinstein Center for Service Learning
In 1995 Rhode Island philanthropist Alan Shawn Feinstein generously endowed the service learning component of URI 101, creating the Feinstein Enriching America Program and the Feinstein Center for Service Learning. With the endowment, Mr. Feinstein insured that each URI student would have the opportunity to be involved in a meaningful community service activity with their class, to reflect upon that experience, and to have the forum to share their thoughts and feelings with other students.
It is the belief of the Feinstein Center that active involvement with community issues builds civic responsibility, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills while fostering an appreciation of larger social issues.

The Feinstein Center for Service Learning, housed under the umbrella of University College and the Office of Internships and Experiential Education, is also home to the Clearinghouse for Volunteers and Jumpstart URI.
