No separate application is required for our merit-based scholarships, but all students who would like to be considered for any merit award must apply by the June 1 deadline and submit all supporting documents by June 15. Merit awards are not available to students who have already earned a bachelor's degree.
Preference for our highest level awards will be given to students with:
A minimum of 24 transferable college credits (based on a semester system) in a diversified program of study.
An overall cumulative grade point average of 3.3.
Satisfaction of the minimum criteria does not guarantee a scholarship; the overall applicant pool determines the degree of competition for these awards. Depending upon available funding, other scholarships may be awarded to students with a strong record of academic achievement who fall slightly below these criteria.
Awarded to Phi Theta Kappa scholars holding an associate degree who have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5.
Current membership in Phi Theta Kappa (documentation must be submitted along with your academic credentials)
URI must be your first four-year institution
Confirmation of an earned Associate in Arts (AA), Associate in Science (AS) or an Associate of Fine Arts (AFA).
