Scenes from the URI Office of Admissions

My URI

Name: Lauren

Major: Secondary Education and History

Graduation Year: 2010

Hometown, State: Clifton Park, New York

Two words of advice: Self management

My personal motto: "This too shall pass, because if you have a hard time, you can make it through with optimism and perseverance."

URI is unique because: The state is at your grasp. Everything is within 45 minutes away.

My goal: To graduate college and get a job teaching or go to graduate school within 6 months

My favorite food on campus: The waffles in Butterfield

My best URI moment (so far): Meeting and bonding with my (dorm) floor freshman year

My biggest surprise at URI:How quickly it felt like a second home

My favorite place on campus (and why): The Union (because there are so many different places to go and things to do)

On the weekends I: Go to the beach, hang out with friends, go to see other friends at other schools

My favorite class (and why): Communications 100 (because it taught public speaking and group work/involvement early on)

I selected URI because: I like the campus, I have family in the area, and it's so close to the beach

I am involved in: Greek life, URI-101 Mentor, and Tour Guiding
