Kinesiology, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Pharmacy are currently closed for the spring 2010 semester.

Transfer Housing

Residence hall housing requests for transfer students are considered on a first-come, first-served basis:

  • If you would like to live on campus, place your name on the housing waiting list by visiting ATP://housing.uri.edu or calling 401-874-4151.
  • As spaces become available, you will be contacted by a member of the residence life staff. In order to secure your housing at that point, you will be required to pay your $300 enrollment deposit and your $200 housing deposit.
  • You will then receive a housing contract. Complete and return this contract to confirm your place in the residence hall.

Other housing options for transfer students include:

Fraternities and Sororities - http://www.uri.edu/greek/

Women's Leadership House - http://www.uri.edu/women_center/wist.htm

International Engineering Program (IEP) House - http://www.uri.edu/iep

Admission Deferral Policy

We understand that due to unavoidable circumstances some students may need to postpone their enrollment at the University of Rhode Island.

If you are unable to attend URI in September 2009, you may request a deferral of your enrollment for one semester by e-mailing the Transfer Counselor at dsuggs530@mail.uri.edu with the subject line spring deferral. The request should include information regarding your plans for the interim period and confirmation that you are in good standing at your previous (or current) institution.  You may also be required to submit additional academic information before a deferral is approved.

If your deferral request is approved, you will receive a new acceptance letter for spring 2010. In the event that admission requirements for your desired major have changed since you submitted your original application, your new letter will include this information. Merit scholarships awarded to students for fall 2009 may no longer be available for spring 2010.

Deferral requests beyond one semester are generally granted only for students who have encountered circumstances beyond their control which prevent them from attending. These circumstances are almost always limited to illness, accident, family tragedy, or military deployment. In addition to your deferral request you will need to submit documentation which confirms the nature of the circumstance (i.e., physician’s letter or military orders).

Students admitted prior to fall 2009 and those who did not complete the application process must submit a new application for admission as well as updated academic credentials.
