Students with Learning Disabilities or ADHD

At the AEC, our work is to help each individual student develop an approach to studying that best suits her or his needs.  We do this by working with you to learn about how you learn best, seeing what is required of you in your coursework, and helping you develop effective approaches to your work. If you have a learning disability, or ADHD, we can help you discover ways of studying that tap into your strengths and address your challenges.

The AEC is proud to work closely with URI’s Disabilities Services for Students (DSS) office to help students with learning disabilities or ADHD succeed at URI.  If you a.) Have a diagnosed disability and are interested in learning what accommodations you are entitled to, or b.) Suspect that a learning disability or ADHD might be a factor in your learning experience; we strongly encourage you to visit the DSS office in Memorial Union room 330, or call them at (401) 874-2098, to set up a meeting.

We encourage you to set up an appointment with one of our learning specialists as well, by contacting AEC director David Hayes (davidhayes@mail.uri.edu, 401-874-2953) or Assistant Director Kathryn Crisostomo (kcrisostomo@mail.uri.edu, 401-874-4690).  In keeping with your rights to privacy and confidentiality, we will not require you to disclose your disability, and we will not disclose any information about your visits without your permission.
