Studying and Test Taking Skills

Very few students arrive at college knowing how to do college work. Some people might recognize it in the first week of class; others take longer. At one point or another, though, almost every student realizes they need to go about their work differently somehow. But how?

We can help you develop study skill that work for you – with your unique needs, your unique style, and your courses. Our expert learning specialists know how people learn, and what they need to do to understand, remember, and apply what they are learning to papers and exams. We can even help you address the test anxiety that makes it so difficult to do well even if you’ve studied well.

Come by the AEC or call us at 874-2367 to set up an appointment, and tell the receptionist that your looking for help with studying or test taking. We’ll look at your courses, your notes, your books, and we’ll talk about what you’re doing and what you need to be doing to do well. We’ll even meet with you regularly until you know whether the new techniques are working!

Worried about how you're going to do on an upcoming test? Test anxiety affects your performance at test time, and your ability to focus, memorize, and reason during study time.  Make an appointment with an academic skills tutor to learn how to reduce your anxiety through time management, effective study, and basic mental health strategies.
