Specialty Camps and
Expeditions
Ages 11-17
Register
With Teen Expeditions, each day brings a new physical and mental
adventure requiring determination and the ability to try hard while
discovering new skills, challenges, and places.
Whether staying at Alton Jones, setting up a base camp at a
public campground, or hiking, canoeing, or kayaking to a new
campsite each night, each group will be completely independent. Camping is in screen-house cabins when at Alton Jones and
tents for off campus trips. Everyone
helps cook on camp stoves except when meals are provided.
Check-in is Sunday from 2:00-3:00 PM. Camp ends Friday with check-out at 3:00 PM (a
photo ID is required).

and Expeditions
Outdoor
Skills Ages
11-13
Spend the week putting your wilderness skills to the
test. Start out at Alton Jones to learn the foundations
of outdoor skills: map- and compass-reading, building fires,
cooking outdoors, and leaving no trace. Then use those
skills on a three-day, two-night backpacking/tent camping
adventure that will be both safe and fun. When not on
trail, you will stay in same-sex rustic screen houses with a
bathhouse nearby.
$675.00 Offered Weeks 4, 6, & 8.
Night
Camp Ages
11-13
Get in touch with your nocturnal side as you explore nature at
night. Take evening hikes to study the night sky and
learn more about owls, bats, and other nocturnal
animals. As the week goes on, you will gradually work
your way up to staying awake all night long.
$675.00 Offered Weeks 3, 5, 6 & 7.
Waterways
Ages 11-13
Learn canoeing techniques and test your skills on the gentle
flatwater and thrilling swiftwater of the Pawcatuck River. You
will cover ways to canoe safely, read a river, pack a canoe, and
cook on a camp stove. Each day we will make our way downriver
to a new campsite and a new adventure!
$675.00 Weeks 3, 5 & 7.
