Weekly Themes
Each week will include the
basic Eco-Zone Day Camp activities along with a weekly theme.
The weekly theme is featured during special activities such as
our carnival as well as during our craft time each day.
Week 1: Aquatic Adventures.
Explore the underwater world of Alton Jones.
Play a variety of games and activities to discover how
water moves around our campus and our Earth.
Week 2: America the Beautiful. Come celebrate the
natural beauty of America for the 4th of July! We’ll
celebrate all week with special carnival activities and a visit
to our Native American site to for stories and crafts.
Week 3: A Bug’s Life.
Go on a bug hunt through the fields of our Nature Preserve!
Learn about different adaptations and build your own bugs as
part of our weekly carnival.
Week 4: Going Green. See all the different ways that
Alton Jones is going green! Conduct experiments to see how long
it takes for our trash to break down.
Make a recycled and reusable craft to take home.
Week 5:
Weather Wonders. Find shapes in the clouds, here stories
about wild weather and learn to read the signs to predict your
own weather forecast.
Week 6: Where the Wild Things Are. Play games,
conduct experiments and go exploring to learn about the many
different wild animals that call Alton Jones home.
Week 7: Tadpoles, Crayfish and Turtles, Oh My!
Explore the wild world
of pond life at Alton Jones. Discover hands-on the plants,
animals and insects that live in our different ponds and
wetlands.
Week 8: Habitat
Detectives. Get up close and follow the trail—solve the
mystery of plants and animals interact to create our forests,
ponds and fields.
