Mountain Multisport! Ages 14-17
Rafting, Rock Climbing, Zip-Lining, and Mountain Climbing!
All in one week!!!
Berkshire
Quest is a multisport expedition for teens, ages 14-17. Two
trained expedition leaders will lead a maximum of thirteen
participants on this adventure.
Check in will begin at 2:00 on Sunday. We’ll move into
our temporary lodgings, meet our group mates and counselors,
play some group games, and have a campfire and cookout.
On Monday morning, we will load up the van and drive to Zoar
Outdoor, located at the foot of the Berkshires in Charlemont, MA
(about a 3 hour drive). After checking in and grabbing a quick
lunch, we will head for the Zipline canopy tour. Zoar’s 3-hour
tour features 11 zip lines, 2 sky bridges, and 3 rappels, all
suspended high in the treetops. We will finish the tour in time
to set up camp in Zoar’s own hillside campground.
On Tuesday, we’ll pack our daypacks for an exciting half-day
of rock climbing. Zoar’s experienced climbing
instructors will work with us to develop our skills. Beginners
and seasoned rock climbers alike will find the appropriate level
of difficulty. We’ll then return to camp and relax around the campfire.
Wednesday will bring ten miles of whitewater rafting down the
Deerfield River. The Zoar Gap’s Class II and one class III
rapids provide the perfect combination of safety and excitement.
Lunch will be a riverbank picnic taken in between the rapids.
On Thursday we will drive about 1 hour to the 12,500-acre Mount Greylock State Reservation in
northwestern Massachusetts to climb Mount Greylock, Massachusetts
tallest peak. We will hit the trail for for a day hike up and
around Mount Greylock’s summit. On a clear day, views from
the summit can extend 90 miles and include Mount Williams and
Mount Fitch. The wooded trails, including part of the
Appalachian Trail, have spectacular views and include places
named "The Hopper" and "The Bellows
Pipe". In addition to breathtaking panoramas from
rocky ledges and exposed peaks we will have the opportunity to
observe different types of wildlife and plant life than that
which is normally found in southern New England.

On Friday, we’ll head back to Alton Jones Campus for some
wrap up activities and goodbyes. Checkout for is at 3:00. |
