COURSES & CURRICULUM

Students may declare either a major or a minor in African and African American Studies. Prior to declaring a major in AAF students must complete twenty hours of volunteer work in the community or submit an essay expressing their interest in the field.

Students selecting a major in African & African American Studies must complete a minimum of 30 credits, including AAF 201, Introduction to African American Studies; AAF 202, Introduction to Afro-American Culture and AAF 498, Senior Seminar. The topic of the Senior Seminar will change annually but the course is designed to allow students to work collectively and to put interdisciplinary methods to the test
