Gail Lowney Alofsin is the Director of Corporate Partnerships for Newport Harbor Corporation, a leading hospitality company based in Newport, Rhode Island. From 1988 - 2004, Alofsin served as the Director of Sales, Marketing and Public Relations of the Newport Yachting Center, a division of Newport Harbor Corporation, developing the waterfront event site from one national event to five national events while increasing corporate partnership sales 5700%! Her responsibilities in addition to the partnership sales and execution included the advertising, marketing and Public Relations of the core events inclusive of the Schweppes Great Chowder Cook-Off, The Snapple Sunset Music Festival (an 8 evening concert series featuring national artists), the Newport Waterfront Irish Festival, the AquafinA Taste of Rhode Island and the NBC-10 International Oktoberfest! Past events also include The ESPN Extreme Games, Sports Illustrated 50th Anniversary Tour and the Health Magazine Feel Great Festival and Tall Ships 2000.
Alofsin is a 1984 graduate of Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts where she focused on International Relations at the Fletcher School of Foreign Diplomacy. In addition to her full time sales and marketing position at Newport Harbor Corporation, Alofsin serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Rhode Island – teaching classes focused on communication, marketing and public relations. She also speaks at national conferences on the subject of Sales, Marketing, Sponsorship Procural/Retention, Time Management/Life Balance, Customer Service and Spirit. She is a legislative appointee to the Newport County Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors. She has also served on the boards of the Leukemia Society, American Heart Association, American Cancer Association and Literacy Volunteers. An active volunteer for the Haitian Health Foundation – Alofsin has been visiting this poor country to work in medical clinics since 1982.
As an authority in the events and partnership arena, her numerous television appearances include two features on the national Food Network , NBC-10’s “Cooking with Class”, NBC-10’s Morning Sunrise Show, Cox Televisions “July 4th Celebration” and Cox Television’s “Stir it Up”. Her non-profit expertise has been also been shared on Clear Channel’s “Vital Women” and ABC-6 “The Truman Taylor Show”.
As an energetic and hands on volunteer, Alofsin has worked with many non-profit groups in the community inclusive of Kiwanis Club of Newport, Literacy Volunteers of Rhode Island, Children’s Miracle Network, Alzheimer’s Association, and Autism Project of Rhode Island.
Alofsin resides in Newport with two sports fanatics - her husband, John and nine-year-old son, Samuel!
