for COM 306
COM 306 has two examinations, a midterm and a final. The final is not comprehensive. The midterm examination covers the following topics: APA style, contents of research articles, conceptual and operational definitions, variables, constructing hypotheses and research ethics. See the schedule for readings. The final examination will take place during finals week according to the final exam schedule. Topics include reliability, validity, causality, experimentation, sampling & surveys, descriptive and inferential statistics. |
Studying for the exams The examinations focus on being able to apply the material covered.Memorizing definitions of terms through techniques like flashcards will be of limited help. Instead, try to think of new examples of the concepts in use. The study guides for the exams are not designed to organize your studying for you. To use the study guides effectively, study for the exam as you normally would. When you feel your studying has been complete, check the questions in the guide. If you know the answers or know where to find the answers, you have done a good job. For those issues that look unfamiliar, you know where to study more. |
