Dr. Douglas Wardwell

Dr. Wardwell comes to the Department of Communication Studies, as a professor emeritus from Central Connecticut State University where he was professor and coordinator of media studies in the Department of Communication and director of television services for the University. He was employed six years in commercial radio and television in Southbridge and Springfield Mass and Hartford, CT and six years as radio/tv specialist for the University of CT at Storrs before his tenure with CCSU. Dr. Wardwell has conducted research in the effectiveness of a trained communicator vs lecturer in teaching, published articles in the Journal of Applied Comm. Research, AV Comm. Journal, EITV Journal, College Management Journal, Federal Extension Review and Videography and has written a text on TV production published by McGraw Hill. He has delivered papers at the Northeast Communication Conference, National Association of Bradcasters, International TV Association and the National Fed. of Local Cable Programmers. He is a founder of the Connecticut Higher Education TV Association, was Northeast director of the International TV Association and has won four national Telly awards, two national Videographer awards and the Pioneer Ace award for excellence in video production. Dr. Wardwell has been a director of television for Times Mirror, written and produced programs for commercial television, Connecticut Public TV, the maine public TV Network and has been a professional video producer/consultant to major corporations such as IBM, Stanley Works, Litton Industries, Loctite Corporation Northeast Utilities and New Britain machine. He has designed and taught courses in television production, television performance, radio/tv writing, media management and the tv documentary and has been a visiting director of media in the United Kingdom. |
