Debate is perfect for anyone! Debaters are officially recognized by the
university and some members of other schools have even received stipends as incentives
to study harder in the debate field! It's a great thing to put on your
resume and is a highly respected mark of achievement in the professional
business world.
You get the above credits without the stuffy atmosphere usually associated with
debate! The URI team is very relaxed and laid back and anyone will be
welcome here and wanted. Whether a star debater, or possibly even a
judge; novice or pro, Coach Devine makes everyone into an integral part of the
team!
Take COM208 - Argumentation
& Debate! If you're not sure what intercollegiate debating is all
about and you're just starting out or maybe a bit rusty, take COM208! In
this class, you are taught the ins and outs of debating and actually
participate in an interclass debate as a final project at the end of the year
against another section of the class! It's a great class to take and an
even better way to build your communication skills!
