Description of Duties and Requirements: Internships in the Washington, D.C. office are available to college students and graduate students. The internships will consist of a combination of legislative and administrative work. The function of the Washington, D.C. office is to serve the needs of Senator Reed's legislative demands. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in a host of activities such as assisting with legislative research, writing responses to constituent inquiries, attending committee hearings and preparing memos and other briefs on Senate activities. Description of Duties and Requirements: Primary duties include: Assisting manager of group sales with group ticket sales for different events held in the facility, and assisting in the development of in-house marketing and public relations campaigns to showcase events and the venue. Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Sales calls to companies, schools, clubs and various groups in Rhode Island; Identifying potential groups and making contacts with those groups; Special event and group coordination; Compiling potential group information for placement in a contact database; Processing group sales orders with the box office; maintaining mailing lists; Organizing mass mailings, faxes, and e-mails to potential groups; And game night and special event night duties, such as staffing the Ryan Center promotional booth at URI Men’s and Women’s games, press/photographer supervision for family shows and concerts. Description of Duties and Requirements: Work along with the Meteorologist on staff days or evenings, under the time constraints of the upcoming newscast. Student will learn to interpret satellite and radar information, as well as hurricane forecasting. Description of Duties and Requirements: Students will be allowed to observe studio production, post production, computer graphics and electronic field production (EFP). The student will be able to observe a live newscast from the control room or the studio on headsets, and will be able to assist with set-up, lighting and breakdown of sets. Limited "hands-on" access and operation of studio cameras, character generator systems, switcher, tape machines and related equipment. Description of Duties and Requirements: Student will assist in the overall promotion of the station and its image by writing public service copy, movie opens, press releases, biographies and promotion copy. The student will learn Traffic Department operations, assist in placing promotional material on the daily play log, answer viewer mail and mail tapes.
