COM 471/472 Student Guidelines & Requirements
- You MUST have completed 18 Communication Studies credits to be eligible for this internship (COM 471/472)
- Overall GPA of 2.5 is needed to be eligibility for this program
- Please realize that you are asking to get university credit which means you will be responsible for payment of this experience just as you would for an in classroom/web CT course
- These credits ARE NOT for the required courses in your major. These credits can be used towards the 42credits of 300+level course ELECTIVES. A student can receive from 1-6 COM Studies Elective credits, which is equivalent to working at the internship site a range of 40-45 hours per credit.
- I will be your Faculty Supervisor for this experience. This internship is listed as COM 471/472 where, IF ALL requirements are successfully completed a satisfactory grade will be recorded rather than a letter grade.
- After talking with me, I will ask you to complete the following for my approval:
- the Internship Application
- the Student Learning Contract sheet with waiver
- the Supervisor’s Expectations sheet with waiver
Once you have started your internship experience, I will expect from you:
- a WEEKLY e-mail report of your activities at your internship site
- a MID-TERM paper about your internship experience(I will send your site supervisor a questionnaire to complete and return to me)
- a FINAL paper about your internship paper
* IF you are doing your internship during Fall and/or Spring semesters you are to attend three (3) Career Services functions (i.e.: workshops, job career/fairs, individual career counseling appts., quick questions) within the semester of your internship. I, as well as the Career Services Office, have forms for you to complete to show you have participated in at least three (3) events.
