The economics faculty is highly involved in research, service (both within and outside of the university) and teaching. Members of the economics department strive to integrate their research and service experience into their teaching of economics, which has become ever more important as the field of economics continues to evolve. As a result, one of the Department's strengths is its teaching quality. Three current members of the department have received the University's Teaching Excellence Award.

Individual faculty members are approachable during class and office hours. They frequently provide additional assistance with class topics, lend academic and career advice, and act as sounding boards for questions and student concerns.
