Welcome to the University of Rhode Island's Department of Economics Web Site. The Economics Department is dedicated to promoting personal and professional development and to preparing students to enter professional life or pursue advanced studies at the graduate level. Economics courses provide insight into how the world works, training in rigorous qualitative and quantitative analysis, and a valuable perspective on today's pressing social issues.
Students pursuing a major in Economics have three options - a BA degree, a BS degree in Applied Economics, and a BS degree in Economic Theory and Methods. Students are also eligible for three scholarships. If you are interested in any additional information you should contact the Department's chairperson or stop by the office in Chafee 807.
