1. What can we learn today
from President Eisenhower's Farewell address to the nation in 1961? What did he warn American's about, and do you
think he was correct? Where can you see in today's world evidence that
Eisenhower was on to something? Your answer to these questions should be
contained in a 500-word essay.

2. The 1930s changed the way
we looked at the government, and to give you a perspective on the possible role
of the government I would like you to read Bill Moyers' article This
is your story-The progressive story of America. Pass it on. I
want you to relate some of the ideas expressed by Moyers with some of what you
learned this semester.

3. You are to find someone you
know who lived through the 1960s and interview them on their remembrances about
that period - what they were doing, what their parents were doing, what they
thought about government policies, and any other things that they remember from
that period. In your write up of 500 words you should try to identify what it
was that surprised you the most in your interview, or what insight you gained
into the interviewee or the era.
