Your job is
to conduct a small research project that makes use of a t-test between
sample means. If you
intend to use a survey, you must get permission from the Institutional
Review Board (IRB). The
procedures are available from the first floor of "Research and
Grant Accounting." Ask for the IRB packet.
Choose two groups, for
example, Republicans vs. Democrats, manufacturing firms vs. service
firms. in-state vs. out of
state students. etc. Hypothesize
a difference between the two groups.
Collect a sample (at least 16 observations in each group) and
then test whether or not your hypothesized difference exists using a
t-test between means.
Write up your research
and conclusions in a professional manner.
Prepare a presentation to be given to your colleagues during the
last week of classes.
