University of Rhode Island Economics Department

AWARDS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

The Economics department is pleased to be able to offer several scholarships and an award to its majors. The Department is fortunate, thanks to the generosity of alumnus Nancy McKinstry, to be able to offer the Nancy McKinstry Scholarship.  The Elton Rayack Scholarship honors Elton's many years of service to the University as a member of the Economics Department, while the Jonathan Schuyler Pardee Scholarship was established to honor Jonathan who was a former Economics major. Beginning in 2007-2008 there will be an Art Mead scholarship sponsored by Art and the Joel Dirlam scholarship honoring  Joel's many contributions to the department, state, and profession.

In addition to these scholarships, there is also the annual Joel Dirlam Excellence Award that honors Joel's tireless research agenda that inspired faculty and students alike during his many years at URI. This award is given to the student(s) with the year's best research paper.
