Every spring, College of Arts & Sciences holds its annual VISUALIZATIONS Film Festival competition. Undergraduate students interested in film or video are strongly encouraged to enter. Winners are recognized and awarded cash prizes for their achievements. All undergraduates enrolled for academic year 2005/2006 are eligible.
Entries will be accepted on April 4th & 5th in the Media Room of the Library. The Festival comprises an awards ceremony and two nights of film screenings, April 26th and 27th on the Kingston campus.
VISUALIZATIONS 2006 will feature six production categories: Animation, Experimental, Documentary, News Segment, Commercial/PSA, and Narrative/Open; plus the Critical Essay category and a new Film Treatment category.
This year's featured guest artist is RI filmmaker Cherry Arnold, critically acclaimed director of the film Buddy, a feature documentary that chronicles the life of former Providence mayor Vincent "Buddy" Cianci. Ms. Arnold will be showing a clip from her documentary and giving a brief presentation during the Thursday evening (April 27th) event. (more)
In past Festivals, many talented students have screened a diverse and entertaining array of films and videos at VISUALIZATIONS, and this year’s Festival will continue to present the audience with the best efforts of URI’s student filmmakers.
The Festival screenings are open to the public without charge.
