Harrington School-Wide Awards

These funds are specifically available for students majoring in any program in the Harrington School of Communication and Media.

Michael Andreozzi Scholarship
Scholarships for Arts and Sciences students who live in any New England state or New York, with financial need, with preference for a student in any major in the Harrington School; Selected by Dean of Arts and Sciences.

Robert M. Beagle Family Endowment
A scholarship to assist students enrolled in The Harrington School of Communication and Media who are engaged in an off-campus experiential learning activity.

Agnes Doody Scholarship
Scholarship for students in any major in the Harrington School of Communication and Media, based on merit and financial need, selected by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Fred Joyal Film Prize
Award(s) up to $1,000 for undergraduate students in any major in the Harrington School, who demonstrate talent and promise as filmmakers (including narrative, experimental, commercials, PSA, animation, etc.) based on production and submission of one original work. Harrington School for Communication and Media Fund
Fund may be used to support students, faculty, programs, and equipment and technology needs for the School of Communication and Media. Specifically, funds may be used to purchase equipment and technology for student labs, for special student and faculty opportunities, such as travel, internships, presentations, awards, etc., to bring to campus leading edge speakers, to award the Harrington Scholar Grants and Harrington student scholarships, and for other related purposes as determined by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Scott Randall/BrandGames Film Treatment Prize
A $500 prize is available to students in the Harrington School who create a film treatment consisting of a logline, purpose, and 2-page plot synopsis for an original film idea. Lonny Unger Scholarship
Scholarships for students who are majors in any of the programs that are part of the Harrington School, based on financial need and academic merit. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible.

College of Arts and Sciences Awards

Some special funds are available to students in any major in the College of Arts and Sciences, including the Harrington School of Communication and Media.

Beaupre Family Scholarship
Scholarships to undergraduate or graduate Arts and Sciences students, who are RI residents, with at least one child.

Beaupre Hope and Heritage Award
Awards are available for undergraduates and graduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences. Funds may be used to help defray travel, registration, and other related expenses mainly to present scholarly work, poster sessions, performances, or to accept awards for scholarly work or creative activities. Some funds may also be available to attend professional conferences, programs, or other special, worthwhile activities.

Mary Braga Scholarship
Scholarship for a female undergraduate in the College of Arts and Sciences who is of Portuguese descent.

College of Arts and Sciences Scholarship
Scholarship(s) for undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Art and Sciences; selected by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, based on financial need and academic merit.

The Paul Conway Memorial Prize
Prize(s) is open to all current URI College of Arts and Sciences undergraduates, who are current RI residents, and have earned at least 24 credits. Based on an entry form and a one-page essay on "The Value of a Liberal Arts Education".

Madelyn G. Geisser Scholarship
Scholarship for a female student in the College of Arts and Sciences who is a single parent, head of household, based on financial need.

Ryan Mone Scholarship
Scholarship for a student who has graduated from Martha's Vineyard Regional High School. Graduates from Nantucket High School and any high school on Cape Cod may also be eligible.

George Wiley Scholarship
Scholarship for an African-American student in the College of Arts and Sciences who shows an interest in community service, government or issues of social concern.

Carrie G. and Daniel M. Doody Memorial Endowment
Various kinds of support for Communication Studies students as determined by Dept. Chair.

Martha McCormick Kelly Endowed Memorial Fund
Support for Communication Studies scholarships, research, travel, and other debate-related activities, as determined by Dept. Chair.

Leonard Eckerman Smith Memorial Award
Awards for students in Communication Studies with a major interest and skill in public speaking, as determined by Dept. Chair.

Film Media

The Film/Media Production Award
A cash prize up to $1,000, awarded to a Film/Media major who demonstrates talent and promise as a film/video director or producer, selected by the Film/Media faculty. This prize is donated by Fred Joyal'79.

The Film/Media University Excellence Award
A cash prize up to $1,000, awarded to a Film/Media major, who has been selected by the Film/Media faculty to receive the department's University Excellence Award. This prize is donated by Fred Joyal'79.

Mary Zorabedian Scholarship (also supports Theatre and Music)
Scholarship for talented Film Media majors with financial need, who live in RI, selected by the Dean of Arts and Sciences.
