Advising

New students are advised at University College in Roosevelt Hall, which is your administrative home until you are eligible for the College of Arts & Sciences, home of the Journalism Department. You can make an advising appointment online, by calling 874-2993 or stopping by the reception desk at University College.

As a freshman, you are required to consult with your UC advisor before you will be allowed to register for classes. Because the Journalism Department requires its majors to consult their advisor prior to registering for Journalism classes, you will continue to meet with that advisor until you move to A&S.

Once you have 24 credits and have passed JOR 115 and have passed JOR 220 with a grade of C or better and have a grade point average of at least 2.00, you will be transferred to A&S. At that time, the Journalism Department will assign you a faculty advisor from the department. You can request a specific person if you wish; you also can change advisors at any time by conferring with the department chair. Find your advisor
