Women's Studies Graduates: The First Generation
By Barbara F. Luebke and Mary Ellen Reilly

Our book was published early in 1995 by Teachers College Press as part of its ATHENE Series. As we write in its preface:

"To offer a more complete picture of Women's Studies graduates from American colleges and universities, we set out to answer the question, 'What do you do with a Women's Studies major?' We wanted to learn more about the backgrounds of undergraduates drawn to Women's Studies and what people have dones since graduation. We also wanted to assess the impact of Women's Studies on graduates' lives -- both personally and professionally. Finally, we were curious about what advice they might offer today's students (and potential students), faculty, and administrators. From the beginning, we agreed that the gradutes were the experts and it was their voices we wanted readers to hear."

Drawing on the experiences of 89 Women's Studies graduates from across the United States, we debunk the myths and stereotypes about the discipline, provide encouragement for undergraduates considering the major, and offer advice for faculty and adminstrators as well as students.
