About Melanie

Thistle, part of my heritage

This is my first attempt at a webpage, so bear with me!

The Basics...

My name is Melanie Hayden.

Here I am!

I am twenty-four years old and live in Dighton, Massachusetts with my husband, Derrick. We have a few pets...Bessie & Roxy are our beagles (they're sisters!), and Biggles & Ginger are our cats.

The Job...

I work as the Assistant Librarian at the Dorothy L. Beckwith Middle School in Rehoboth, Massachusetts. I also advise the staff of the school newspaper, The Raider Reporter. It is a great school to work in; the staff and students are terrific. The funny thing about working at Beckwith is that I actually attended school their myself! Feel free to take a peak at my resume.

The Education...

For 3.5 years, I attended Bridgewater State College. I graduated with a degree in History and my Massachusetts Teaching Certificate in secondary education. Currently, I am enrolled in the GSLIS program at URI.

The Hobbies...

I love reading (Dan Brown, author of The DaVinci Code, is my current favorite), dancing, and spending time with friends and family. Traveling is something both Derrick and I enjoy; we try to get away at least once a year. Our last big excursion brought us to Playacar, Mexico.

During the summer, we spend a lot of time on the water (which if fine by me!), having cookouts, and I am sure riding around on Derrick's new motorcycle will be in the picture.

A Final Bit of News...

Derrick and I are going to an uncle and an aunt for the first time!
We are very excited about this!!! Just wanted to mention it!

So, that's me in a nutshell!
