Selection Policy

Selection criteria are used to select individual items or small groups of items. Following are conventional criteria commonly used in selection:
- Authority
- Appropriateness
- Accuracy or timeliness
- Physical characteristics
- Collection fit
- Demand
- Content
- Special characteristics such as having features as indexes, bibliography, notes, prefaces, introductions, teacher guides, and interpretive materials.
