As a result of this lesson, you will:
1. define and discuss knowledge and second hand knowledge.
2. describe and discuss a cognitive authority.
3. discuss the peer review process and scholarly communication.
4. discuss bibliometics and its relationship to libraries.
5. recognize and describe basic bibliometic laws such as Bradford's, Lotka's and Zipf's.
6. describe and discuss the terms: obsolescence of literature, citation analysis, bibliometric coupling and cocitation.
7. describe how bibliometics can be used in determining collection use.
