INTRODUCTION TO INFORMATION SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

As a result of this class, you will:

1. discuss at least five characteristics of motion picture and/or video such as slow motion, time lapse, macro, micro, infrared, and x-ray photography that have contributed to the scientific advancement of humans.

2. identify the basic parts along the path that a video tape takes in a VCR from the supply reel to the take-up reel.

3. identify and describe the four basic tracks of a videocassette tape.

4. name and desccribe the characteristics of at least five video tape formats.

5. discuss the advantages and limitations of a camcorder.

6. identify and describe the video camera operations of zoom, pan, tilt, dolly and truck and lens features such as close-up, telephoto, wide-angle, and f-stop.

7. name and describe the features of at least two desktop video production systems.

8.describe the following television delivery systems: (a) broadcast via commercial station, (b) broadcast via noncommercial station, (c) closed-circuit system, (d) cable TV system, (e) microwave, (f) satellite, and (g) portable video.
