Instructional Technology in Library and Information Services

Objectives: 6/27/06
As a result of this class, you will:
1. prepare annotations of journal articles of 50 words
or less and include proper bibliographic information.
2. use the ASSURE or other appropriate instructional development model
to plan, design and produce an instructional, training, or promotional
hypermedia presentation using PowerPoint, HyperStudio, HyperCard or some
other hypermedia program.
3. use the ASSURE model to plan, design, and present a presentation in
class involving media and presenting a topic directly relating to the
course. This assigment may be done individually or in a small group of
two or three students.
4. use WebCT.
5. distinguish between instructional development models and instructional
design
models.
6. distinguish between instructional developers and instructional designers.
7. describe and discuss at least three instructional development models.
8. discuss and use the basic concepts from the Component Display Theory.
9. discuss and use the basic concepts from the Elaboration Theory.
10. play the Ring Toss Game and discuss the results.
11. describe and discuss achievement motivation, affiliation motivation
and power
motivation.
12. complete your learning style inventory and discuss its results.
13. complete your teaching style inventory and discuss its results.
14. compare your learning style with your teaching style.
15. discuss and use the basic concepts from the ARCS Model.
