INFORMATION DESIGN

Final Project
You and the other members of your small group will design and produce a multimedia presentation for promotional or informational purposes that attracts and involves the participant by using all of the senses. The presentation will be on a theme of your choice. It must contain:
- a single page poster or flyer expressing a single concept. Each member of the group must produce at least one poster or flyer. Each poster or flyer should be produced with a tool such as a word processing tool such as MicroSoft Word or a publishing tool such as Adobe PageMaker using appropriate information design principles. (5%)
- a single double-sided brochure suitable for mailing designed to announce your presentation and/or provide background information about the presentation, the producers of the product, the theme, etc. You should apply appropriate information design principles and use a program such as a word processing tool like MicroSoft Word or a publishing tool like Adobe PageMaker. One person in the group can produce the brochure, but all members should be involved in its design. (10%)
- at least one manipulative that requires the participant to involve the sense of touch. (5%)
- at least one item that requires the participant to involve the sense of taste. (5%)
- at least one item that requires the participant to involve the sense of smell. (5%)
- a one to two minute long video on your theme. You will produce the video using a digital video camera and digital video editing tool such as Media 100, iMovie, or other digital editing tool using appropriate information design principles. All members of the group should be involved in the design and production of the video. (25%)
Upon completion of the project (due by 7/29/04), each member of the group should send an email to me with a grade for the participation of each member of the group including yourself. The grade should be based on 5 points where:
* 5=outstanding, contributions couldn't have been better,
* 4=very good, contributions were better than most,
* 3=acceptable, about average contributions,
* 2=below average, didn't contribute as much as most,
* 1=poor, contributed very little,
* 0=unacceptable, contributed nothing.
No one in the group will receive a grade for this assignment until all members of the group have submitted a grade using the above scale for all members of the group including herself or himself.
