Course Description
This course is designed to help the student with a basic knowledge of the
Internet to build on that knowledge. You will be expected to develop further
skills in understanding the World Wide Web and advance your skills in developing
websites.
Course Objectives
As a result of this course, you will:
-
discuss the role of the Internet in libraries.

discuss hardware and software requirements for accessing
the Internet. (GSLIS: 1, 5, 6; RIDE: 2, 5,
10)*
-
discuss the history of the Internet
including TELNET, Gophers, FTP, and other tools and protocols. (GSLIS:
1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 15, 19, 20; RIDE: 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10)*
-
use World Wide Web browsers, search engines, directories
and meta-search engines to develop a list of resources on a topic
of your choice.

design and develop a virtual library website.
