Course Description
Introduces principles of architecture, library science and information science to plan, design, develop, and evaluate cohesive web sites and intranets that are attractive, navigable, manageable, and expandable.
Course Objectives
As a result of this course, you will:

discuss the role of the information architecture in libraries and information environments. (GSLIS: 1, 5, 6, 15; RIDE: 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10)*

discuss hardware and software requirements for designing information on the Internet. (GSLIS: 1, 5, 6; RIDE: 2, 5, 10)*

discuss the history of the Internet and the various tools and protocols necessary for effective and efficient information design. (GSLIS: 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 15, 19, 20; RIDE: 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10)*

use World Wide Web browsers, search engines, directories and meta-search engines to develop lists of resources. (GSLIS: 1, 5, 6, 15; RIDE: 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10)*

design, develop, evaluate, and maintain a virtual library website. (GSLIS: 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 ; RIDE: 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 10)*
