As a result of this lesson, you will:
1. read Chapters 1 and 2 in Rosenfeld, Chapters 1 and 2 in Steilow and
Chapters 1, 3 and 4 in Williams & Tollett.
2. identify at least one idea for a virtual library project to undertake
in this course.
3. define and describe TCP, IP, packet, URL, HTTP, netiquette, flaming
and spamming.
4. discuss why the packet switching concept was set up for the Internet.
5. define the World Wide Web and discuss its inception.
6. define hardware and software.
7. define information architecture and describe what an information architect
does.
8. discuss how information architecture is important for librarians and
information specialists.
9. discuss five basic principles of information architecture.
