INTERNET FOR LIBRARIANS

Objectives: 5/26/06


As a result of this lesson, you will:

1. read Chapters 8 and 9 in Steilow and Chapters 13 and Part 5 in Williams & Tollett.

2. discuss methods for communicating with the users of your virtual library.

3. describe at least eight tasks that should be considered in publicizing your virtual library.

4. discuss various approaches to publicizing school, academic, public and special libraries.

5. describe at least seven approaches to publicizing your virtual library on the WWW.

6. describe the Electronic Frontier Foundation and discuss its contributions to electronic communications and society.

7. compare and contrast the philosophies/policies of ALA, ASIST and EFF. Discuss each's contributions to society.

8. discuss the future of the Internet as it relates to library and information services.

9. apply information architecture to the GSLIS site.
