INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE AND WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT
Readings and Materials
Reading assignments will come from the required texts and related readings. Other texts are suggested, but are optional based on your own personal needs. The material should be read when it is assigned. This will give a common base from which to discuss issues and concerns on WebCT. Materials for this course will also consist of websites that will support the readings in the text and materials provided on WebCT.
The Stielow, Williams and Tollett, and Williams texts have been ordered
at the bookstores in Kingston. I think you will find that these and the
optional texts are also available at most of the online bookstores or
can be ordered through one of your local bookstores. I would suggest that
you obtain copies ASAP so you can do the readings for the first week of
class.

The Non-Designer's Design Book is not geared towards web design but it does an excellent job in presenting basic design principles and discussing the design of text. It is optional, but I think you will find it very useful.

The following texts are suggested based on what you as an individual may
need for the course. Any of these texts can be used to support your learning
and to complete the course. There are other books on any of these topics
that may work just as well. Choose those that you find most useful. There
are also numerous websites that provide FREE reference material and tutorials
for the various programs you might choose to use to complete the assignments.
Feel free to use those in addition to or instead of textbooks.
