In addition to the many general sites on how people develop, think, and learn that can be found elsewhere on this site, this page will list a number of books describing learning and other cultural characteristics of people from diverse groups. It will also list a few useful web resources for international students and immigrants. It is important to ask whether characteristics mentioned in these materials apply to the specific group that you are working with. In addition, general insights on culture shock, and on culture shock in the library may also be useful. Websites, books, and other resources on general library and educational issues affecting people of specific ethnic groups, as well as materials by educators and librarians from these groups will be listed on separate pages about African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanics or Latinos, and Native Americans.
