Lucille Chernack Fund
One of five goals supporting the GSLIS Mission is "To serve in local, regional, national, and international academic and professional communities and to cultivate mutually supportive relationships, especially within the New England region."
In support of this goal, URI GSLIS will reimburse any matriculated GSLIS student up to $25.00 towards the student membership fee in the state, regional, national, or international professional organization of her/his choice. Funds for student reimbursement are taken from the Lucille Chernack Professional Development Fund. This fund was established in 2006 in honor of Lucille Chernack, President of the Rhode Island School Library Association from 1959 to 1963. She helped spearhead the campaign to start the new Graduate Library School at URI, and was named our "Graduate of the Year" at the April 2006 Annual Gathering. GSLIS remembers her contributions to librarianship and library education with gratitude.
One-time benefit available to each student on request. The following documentation should be submitted to:

- A copy of the completed application/registration form for the organization
- A copy of the cancelled payment check or credit card statement to which the membership was billed
