Stewart P. Schneider Scholarship

Professor Schneider was a member of the GSLIS faculty.  A scholarship in Stewart P. Schneider's name was instituted in the spring of 1998 in recognition of his long and distinguished service to GSLIS. He arrived at URI in 1964 as a reference librarian and moved to the School in 1968. At the time of his retirement in 1994 he had served on the faculty longer than anyone else in the history of the School. Professor Schneider's primary professional interests were in the area of reference services and he taught Reference and Information Services, Library Materials in the Social Sciences, Library Materials in the Humanities, Online Searching and Services, and Government Documents.

This Scholarship was established by GSLIS faculty to recognize students in the GSLIS program who show excellence in their academic work and strong potential in reference services.
