12:00 - 1:00 Lunch. A platter of assorted sandwiches (ham, turkey, vegetarian), green salad, dessert, soda & coffee.

1:15 - 3:30 Concurrent Tours.

The Austin House.
Gene Gaddis, author of Magician of the Modern: Chick Austin & the Transformation of the Arts in America, Archivist & Curator of the Austin House, will offer tours of the recently-restored residence of the Atheneum's legendary director. The Austin House is a ten-minute drive from the Atheneum. It will be necessary to break into smaller groups (of approximately 12 each) for these tours.

The Wallace Nutting Collection, Wadsworth Atheneum.
Tom Denenberg, Curator of American Decorative Arts & author of the forthcoming Wallace Nutting & the Invention of Old America, will lead tours of the Nutting furniture galleries.

The Auerbach Library.
Tours of the Atheneum's 36,000-volume library will be available as well as the opportunity to explore the extensive permanent collection in the galleries.

3:00 - 4:30 Reception at Halden Hall, Trinity College.

PLEASE NOTE: Because of parking constraints in downtown Hartford & limited access to the Austin House, attendees are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to CAR-POOL.
