FALL 2006 GSLIS ORIENTATION EVENTS!

 

 

 

Orientation day for all current, new, and prospective GSLIS students will be Tuesday September 5, 2006.  The day will be full of events and will include very useful information for your academic career here at the University of Rhode Island.  Here is a list of what will be happening:

 

8:30a.m. – Get your student id for URI Access!  Meet in Rodman Hall with Jennifer Legare;  I will guide you to the Memorial Union to have your photo id made up at the Access Office.  If you are a living in Rhode Island, you can also visit the Access Office at your convenience.  The Access Office is located on the main floor of the Memorial Union and their hours are Mon. – Thurs. from 8:30 – 4:30 and Fri. from 8:30 – 4.

 

9:00a.m. - 12:00p.m.  Graduate School Orientation, located in the Memorial Union Ballroom. This orientation will explain the University’s policies and procedures that directly apply to Graduate Students.

 

12:00p.m. – 1:00p.m.  BBQ on the quadrangle for graduate students hosted by URI’s Graduate Student Association.  FREE LUNCH!

 

1:00p.m. – 3:00p.m.  GSLIS orientation and information session for new and prospective students, located in the University Library 3rd floor Galanti Lounge.  This orientation is specific for our students.  Meet our Director, Dr. Gale Eaton for a Q&A session about the GSLIS program from regional rates to how we write the comprehensive exam questions, to what kind of technology you are going to need.  We will provide some yummy refreshments to keep you energized and your tummies full while absorbing all of this important informationJ

 

3:00p.m. – 4:15p.m. University Library orientation with your GSLIS Library Liaison, Professor Mary MacDonald and Professor Karen Ramsay.  Here you will receive a behind-the-scenes tour of our Library, and an introduction to resources you’ll need as a student.

 

Please do make every effort to attend.  The information you will obtain will be of tremendous help while you are with us here at the University.
