New England Program

New England Program

Under the New England Regional Student Program, the School offers in-state tuition rates to Rhode Island students and regional rates to residents of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. For current tuition rates, see the URI Enrollment Services site.

For GSLIS courses taught in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, students are assessed a flat fee by the Special Programs Office of the URI College of Continuing Education. This fee is in lieu of tuition. See the current GSLIS course schedule for further details.

Locations

Most GSLIS courses have their face-to-face meetings at Kingston, RI, in Rodman Hall. Other physical locations for spring and fall courses include the URI Feinstein College of Continuing Education in Providence; Worcester State University in Massachusetts; and the University of New Hampshire at Durham.

For maps and directions to the four campuses where GSLIS courses are held, see our Visitor Information page.

Delivery Formats

To ease access for a geographically dispersed student population, many courses are offered online (with no more than two face-to-face sessions) or as hybrids (with three or more face-to-face sessions).

The program is made accessible to regional students by:

  • Face-to-face courses in Worcester, MA, and Durham, NH
  • Internet courses
  • Hybrid (Internet and face-to-face) courses, often scheduled on Saturdays
  • Summer courses, scheduled in one-week, five-week, and ten-week sessions

This mixture of delivery modes fosters the development of student friendships and collaborations, while creating opportunities for independent study.
