Course Description:
The Seminar will provide students and professionals with an opportunity to travel to China to study the history of Chinese librarianship and libraries and information services from the ancient to the contemporary times. (GSLIS)
Academic credits:
The Seminar is a 3-credit course from GSLIS. Participants are asked to attend all class sessions and library tours in China and complete a research paper after the Seminar ends. Non-credit option is also available. Participants will attend all class sessions and library tours with the requirement of the research paper.

Cost & Registration
The program fees are $2150, which covers a three-credit graduate course, room, meals on 8 library tours, traveling within China, and all necessary fess for various library tours and cultural activities. Cost of daily meals varies by personal choices. The cost is quite reasonable. One can manage his/her daily meals with $10 to $20 a day. Students will need to arrange their own round trip international plans to China and arrive at or before 7:00 p.m. on June 2 in Shanghai Pudong Airport. The deadline for application is April 16th with a deposit of $150. The full payment will be due on May 11th.
You are encouraged to take a Chinese language/culture 101 before you leave. URI offers Chinese 101 on the College of Continuing Education in Providence in the spring semester of 2007.
