What Past Participants Think:
Of all the
French 412 courses
that I have taken, that one on the 21st century novel was my favorite.
I
really enjoyed all of the books and enjoyed the conversation and
discussion that came about in
class in response to our readings even though this course is a lot
of work. I think one of the best parts about the course was that the
novels were new, recent, edgy, and talked about current events/problems
that we are facing. Kelly McBrien.
I thought that the discussion of these always unique, sometimes
outrageous, hot off the press contemporary French novels was lively and
fun as well as educational. I enjoyed the course very much. I hope it
is offerred again soon. Bruce Fickett.
I thoroughly enjoyed FRN 412 at URI. This
course is no longer at the level of learning French, but rather
enjoying it. We
read contemporary French novels that were as racy and exotic as any of
us could
have hoped for. The reading material was so different from any mundane
required literature that I have ever read. The level of work for the
course is a bit demanding, but the reward is well worth the effort.
Jeff Borden.
