EARLY 20th-CENTURY GERMAN CULTURE
Survey of German culture in the turbulent early 20th century, with discussion of such themes as modernity, the experience of war, national identity, popular and high culture, everyday life, and political mobilization. Examples taken from a wide variety of areas such as literature, politics, technology, film, music, architecture, and art.

Das Seminar bietet einen Ðberblick ¸ber die deutsche Kultur des turbulenten fr¸hen 20. Jahrhunderts, mit Schwerpunkt auf den Themen Moderne, Kriegserfahrung, nationale Identit”t, Pop- und Hochkultur, Alltagsleben und politische Mobilisierung, Kursmaterialien aus den Bereichen Musik, Literatur, Film, Politik, Technologie und Architektur.
