Monika Hennemann (B.A. equiv. Gutenberg- Universität Mainz, M.M., M.A, Florida State University, Dr. phil. cand.Gutenberg-Universität Mainz) has taught German and Musicology at the Florida State University, the University of Cincinnati, the University of Birmingham (UK) and URI. In addition to giving numerous international lectures, she has published on various aspects of text-music relationship, particularly in connection to Felix Mendelssohn and other Romantic composers. She has been a faculty member at the Deutsche Sommerschule am Atlantik for many years, but is looking forward anew to the celebrated Newport harbor cruise, to Mark's splendid cuisine ("Guten Appetit!"--"Danke, gleichfalls!"), and to introducing the third- and fourth-year students to the more advanced delights of the German language. Once again, she will be teaching a new mini-seminar on "German for Musicians," which she hopes will be of practical help to many fellow musicians interested in exploring the magnificent cultural heritage of the German-speaking world first-hand.
