John
M. Grandin (Ph.D., University of Michigan) is Professor of German and
Executive Director of URI's International
Engineering Program, a double-degree option leading to both the B.S. in one
of the engineering disciplines and the B.A. with a major in German. He has
served as Associate Dean and Interim Dean of URI's College of Arts and Sciences,
as well as Chair of the Department of
Languages. At URI he also co-directed an annual summer immersion program,
the Deutsche Sommerschule am Atlantik.
Dr. Grandin has competed successfully for several major grants supporting
language and international program development at the University of Rhode
Island, and has published numerous articles on applied language teaching. In the
summer of 1995, he directed an NEH Institute at URI on Teaching German Across
the Curriculum. Dr. Grandin has also published a book and several articles on
Franz Kafka. |
