A major in Italian must complete 30 credits of Italian courses (excluding 101 and 102 and the courses of literature in translation, 391, 392, and 395). Typical Italian courses from which the student may choose are:
- Intermediate Italian (103, 104)
- Conversation and Composition (205, 206
- Italian Civilization (301, 302)
- Advanced Conversation and Composition (305)
- Italian Cinema (315)
- Topics in Italian Literature (465)
- Business Italian (480)
- Works of Dante (481)
- Independent Study (497-498)
Majors are encouraged to enhance their knowledge of Italian culture through study in related fields such as art history, history, philosophy, music, etc. Courses in these fields satisfy the requirements in Basic Liberal Studies for the College of Arts and Sciences.
A minor in Italian must complete 18 credits of Italian courses (excluding 101 and 102).
