CPT Tim Duffy ('92) currently commands the 13th MP Company of the 22d Area Support Group, Italy and writes that both he and CPT Jonathan Cameron ('95) command adjacent units. Tim was commissioned Military Intelligence branch in 1992, serving at both Ft. Huachuca, AZ and Ft. Bragg, NC. He completes 26 months of MP company command this month and reports to CID command at Ft. Belvoir, VA very soon. Tim can be reached at: Timothy.Duffy@setaf.army.mil OR srjumper@altavista.com and Jonathan at: Jonathan.Cameron@setaf.army.mil

NOTE to Tim: see below for fellow URI alumni LTC Byron Freeman................................................

CPT Jonathan Cameron ('95) writes: "I graduated from URI in 1995 and was commissioned as a TC officer. After a tour with the 2d ACR at Fort Polk, and the TC Advanced course, I PCS'd to Vicenza, Italy and was initially assigned to the 14th Trans BN. The 14th provides movement control for all of Southern Europe and the Balkans. I have deployed to Bosnia, Hungary, Kosovo, Macedonia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Greece. On 6 June 01 I assumed command of the HHC, 22d Area Support Group here in Vicenza, Italy. I married Shannon Kowit in 1997." See above for Jonathan's email address.

2LT John Breen ('99) is a platoon leader with the 984th MP Company at Fort Carson, Colorado. John reports that after working on the URI campus as a "Gold Bar" ROTC recruiter immediately following graduation he completed MP Officer basic at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. - along with fellow URI graduate Mark Gabriele. John reports: "Needless to say, we stuck out like sore thumbs because of our RI accents and humor. Mark and I stuck together on everything , whether it was doing PT, studying for an exam, or conducting a mission. The instructors began to call us the Rhode Island kill team. Before all was said and done, the two URI grads cleaned house - Mark Gabriele won the leadership award and I was the distinguished honor graduate of our class. Both Mark and I have the URI ROTC program to thank for it's great instructors and peers who helped prepare us for this initial step of our military careers."

John has been at Fort Carson for about one year with the 984th MP company. He reports the 984th is a line company and he spends most of his time in the field, rather than garrison law enforcement. His unit recently returned from a rotation at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, California where he ran into URI alum LT Jeff Scott ('99) who is a railhead OIC. John reports that his was the only MP platoon selected to deploy with and support the 3d ACR and it was a great training experience. John is to be promoted to 1Lt this month and states he'll be "happy to get rid of his Gold Bar............". John can be reached at: BreenJohn3@aol.com or at: John.Breen@carson.army.mil
