Papadopoulos was raised in Troy, New York and graduated from Siena College
in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance. He received a Master's
of Science in Systems Management from Florida Institute of Technology in 1990.
Prior to assuming his duties as the Professor of Military Science at URI, LTC Papadopoulos was assigned to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. He served as the Allied Forces Southern Europe Liaison Officer in Northern Greece supporting the operations in the Balkans. His previous assignments include: Executive Officer and Support Operations Officer of a Forward Support Battalion in the 3d Infantry Division; Logistics Plans and Operations Officer in the 24th Infantry Divisions at Fort Stewart; Executive Officer and Logistics Officer of a Technical Intelligence Battalion; Logistics Plans and Operations Officer with 2d Corps Support Command during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm in Germany and Saudi Arabia; He served at the company and platoon level in the 142d Supply and Service Battalion in Germany.
LTC Papadopoulos' military education include U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officers Course, NATO Staff Officers Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff Officers Course, and the Quartermaster Officer Basic and Advanced Courses.
LTC Papadopoulos' awards and decorations include: the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3d Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (2d Oak leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal, Army Superior Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, South West Asia Medal with Three Bronze Stars, NATO Medal, Kosovo Medal, Saudi Arabia Liberation Medal, and the Kuwait Liberation Medal.
LTC Papadopoulos is married to the former Angelique
Sterghos of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. They have two daughters: Eleni and Christina.
